Dutschke Wines came into being in 1998, evolving from the “Willowbend” label that Wayne Dutschke had started in 1990. Dutschke Wines is the team effort of winegrower Ken Semmler and his nephew, Wayne Dutschke, who is the winemaker and General Manager.
The Semmler name is synonymous with the Barossa Valley, as Wayne’s grandfather (Oscar) was once the chairman of the regional grapegrower’s association and a leading community figure. His place in history has been commemorated through Dutschke Wines naming their flagship, single vineyard Shiraz after him.
The Oscar Semmler Shiraz has quickly become one of Australia’s leading icon wines, attracting great acclaim with both local and international press. Robert Parker Jnr, the world’s most powerful wine critic has heaped praise upon the Dutschke name, awarding scores of up to 98 points for various wines in the Dutschke portfolio.
Dutschke will always be a limited production winery. All their dry reds are single vineyard wines, which by concept alone only allows for a certain maximum production. There are also five outstanding fortified wines, The Sun Dried Shiraz, The 22 Year Old Tawny, The Muscat , The Tokay and the Old Codger Port, as well as the delicious and unique Ivy Blondina, made from White Frontignac.
Dodd and Haskell Fine Wine Export exclusively represent Dutschke Wines in Russia, through their relationship with Russia’s leading distributor of fine wine, DP-Trade.
